Charity of the Year

While we love supporting a range of amazing organisations, in 2024 we decided it would be more meaningful to work a little more closely with a particular charity and hopefully understand them, and their needs a little better.

The whole WHEB team were invited to nominate a charity of their choice and then we voted to elect our Charity of the Year.

PAPYRUS – our first ever Charity of the Year

PAPYRUS is a national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide. The charity was founded in 1997 by a group of bereaved parents, who had each lost children to suicide. Driven by the belief that suicide is preventable, and that those with lived experience of suicide have a valuable contribution to make to the wider conversation around suicide, PAPYRUS is now the leading youth suicide prevention charity in the UK.

We are thrilled to have them as our nominated charity for 2025. Please do take the time to read more about them.

Music for All

A charity dedicated to changing lives across the UK by improving access to music making.

They were in need of office space in which to hold some of their meetings and so WHEB host them periodically throughout the year.

Volunteering days

We also offer all employees two days annual leave for volunteering at a charity of their choice.

The opportunities are many, and include Claire Jervis who mentored two teams in an investment competition run by Future Asset, which educates girls across Scotland about investment management. You can read about her experience here.

Team members have also spent time with The Felix Project and The Conservation Volunteers and we run regular team events and 'Lunch and Learns' on different topics, including presentations from the charities we support.
